FAQ

Those interested in the Biblical understanding category often ask the following questions:

❔ What is the biblical understanding of grace?

  • “Grace” is the most important concept in the Bible, Christianity , and the world. It is most clearly expressed in the promises of God revealed in Scripture and embodied in Jesus Christ. Grace is the love of God shown to the unlovely; the peace of God given to the restless; the unmerited favor of God.

❔ Is revival biblical?

Great question - one that I found asking myself today after hearing a message about revival. The message was indeed horrible because the text the preacher used had nothing to do with revival, but anyways should we seek for revival and is it biblical? It depends on how one defines this term. The word revival is not in the Bible but the term "revive" is used a few times. You could ask a few people what revival means and would look like and you could potentially get very different answers. If revival means that Christians communicate the love and grace of Jesus in their lives by sharing the gospel then yes - we need to be revived and join with Paul who said that I do all things for the gospel - because Christians don't do all things for the gospel. If revival means that Christians should be more moral - then I would say no - that is not a biblical idea. But I think most people associate revival with morality, and emotional meetings - and I don;t think that is biblical.

❔ Is the gospel biblical?

❔ Are new doctrines biblical?

If the doctrine don't line up with the whole Bible and not a fraction then it is biblical.Another answer:If by "new doctrines" you mean "different" from Bible doctrine, then no, it cannot be biblical.Galatians 1:8, 9 - But even if we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel to you than what we have preached to you, let him be accursed. As we have said before, so now I say again, if anyone preaches any other gospel to you than what you have received, let him be accursed. [NKJV]

❔ Is the grace gospel biblical?

Catholics, Eastern Orthodox and Protestants agree that faith is a gift from God, as in Ephesians 2:8: "For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God." Lutherans hold that the means of grace are "the gospel in Word and sacraments." That the sacraments are means of ...

Why did mark portray the disciples of jesus as not understanding who he really was?

Mark frequently stressed that Jesus instructed witnesses to his miracles to keep his true identity a secret. The demons always seemed to know who he really was, but not his disciples.Dennis R MacDonald (The Homeric Epics and the Gospel of Mark) recently argued that this was the result of Homeric influence, with Jesus a counterpart to Odysseus, who also had to keep his identity secret. This is an interesting theory, but not yet widely accepted by scholars (assuming it ever will be).Another possible reason could be that Mark needed to show why few people had ever heard of Jesus at the time he wrote his Gospel, even though Mark described so many great wonders and miracles Jesus performed in the recent past.

Which one of the four new testament gospels according to matthew mark luke and john is considered by biblical scholars to be the first one written?

Biblical scholars say that the first gospel to be written was the Gospel of Mark. The clear evidence of this is that the authors of both Matthew and Luke copied much of Mark's Gospel verbatim in the Greek language. They say that analysis shows that Mark is not copied from either Matthew or Luke, and that the author of Luke was not aware of Matthew's Gospel. Thus, Mark must have been written before Matthew and Luke. John's Gospel is believed to have been inspired by Luke's Gospel, with some material taken direct from Mark.
